A private eye with a badge, a bottle, and a little bit of magic…

Justice, Or Something
Like It

The Jake Bishop Files Book 2

by Doc Blalock

Genre: Noir Paranormal Sleuth Suspense

In Solomon City, everybody keeps secrets. Secrets are Jake
Bishop’s job.

When a harmless old drunk is caught standing over a corpse,
murder weapon in hand, the case looks open and shut—but he won’t say why he
pulled the trigger. Just that it had to be done.

Bishop knows better. Digging deeper, he uncovers a blackmail
scheme, a shadow war in the Irish underworld, and a threat aimed at the one
person his old friend has left to lose—forcing Bishop to bend the law, and his
own conscience, to see something like justice done.

“Secrets.
Everyone has them. Some folks keep them for good and noble reasons, others, not
so much. All kinds of secrets. Personal, professional, valuable, harmful or
embarrassing. People will go to extremes to keep them safe. Some folks have
been willing to die for them. Some will kill to protect them. I’m Jake Bishop,
private investigator. Secrets are my job.”

A Damned Dirty Thing

The Jake Bishop
Files Book 1

The explosion should have killed him . . .

Jake Bishop is back on the streets of Solomon City, ten
months after a mob bombing destroyed his office and murdered his partner and
secretary. But Bishop isn’t just any private detective—he’s a “ditch wizard”
able to step through shadow and bend reality to his will.

When the beautiful and mysterious Portia Vance answers his
ad for a new secretary, Bishop thinks his luck might finally be changing.
Together, they begin hunting Vito Morelli, the mob boss who ordered the hit
that nearly ended Bishop’s life.

Their investigation leads them through the city’s darkest
corners—from strip clubs to shadow banking operations, from corrupt cops to
magical wards. But in a world where bullets and spells are equally deadly, and
where everyone has secrets worth killing for, Bishop discovers that the line
between hunter and hunted is thinner than he thought.

Some cases require a gun. Others need magic. This one
demands both.

In the shadows of Solomon City, justice comes with a
price—and revenge wears a beautiful face.

A gritty noir fantasy that proves sometimes the most
dangerous magic is the human heart.

#blogtour The Vote by David Swanson

A Story of Political Peril

Fiction

Date Published: 09-10-2026

Publisher: Mission Point Press

A cautionary political tale that shines a light on the danger to our
country when the wrong people have too much money and power.

The Vote is a political thriller built around a conspiracy among powerful
political actors, billionaires, and party operatives who seek to manipulate
the constitutional amendment process in order to permanently reshape the
structure of American government. The mechanics of American politics,
particularly the Article V constitutional amendment process, is the framework
that informs the central premise of the novel. The current political landscape
of the country lends credibility to the story and gives the narrative an
interesting and timely foundation.

The manuscript opens with a series of interconnected storylines involving
political figures, wealthy conspirators, and emerging state-level candidates.
These threads gradually reveal a coordinated effort to gain control of state
legislatures and Congress as part of a broader plan to fundamentally alter the
country’s political system. The concept itself is ambitious and grounded
in recognizable political realities.

Excerpt

Rudolph Conover fumed as the jet he’d sent to convey Aldon Powers
to the Conover compound in Southern Illinois sat idling somewhere in Texas. No
sign of Powers. No explanation. No apology. The plane should have left hours
ago.

For Conover, meetings such as today’s were a carefully choreographed
dance, designed to shape an opponent’s mental disposition and ultimately
their amenability to whatever it was he wanted from them. Everyone was an
opponent in Conover’s world and everything was meant to intimidate, from
the jet’s amenities to the obsessive focus on secrecy to the quirkiness
of his compound. When dealing with men like Powers, it was his way of
reminding them of his preeminence in the hierarchy of billionaires. On rare
occasions when someone dared to play by their own rules, he did not take it
well. Today was one of those occasions.

Conover’s wife, Marcia, slipped into the war room where he sat. The
meeting was scheduled to begin shortly. “Any communication from
Powers?” he asked, irritated.

She shook her head.

“How can he be so disrespectful?”

She put her hand on his shoulder, “You have every right to be upset.
I’ll go see if there is any news.”

Conover knew Powers was difficult and unpredictable but it was impossible not
to respect him. A modern-day Edison, he was a daring visionary and the most
technologically disruptive man in a century. His companies had mastered space,
the Earth’s outer crust, and the ocean’s depths. The man had
become so indispensable that some feared him as a veritable government unto
himself, unfettered by borders and the normal rules of behavior. Everybody
needed something from him that only he could give. Conover wanted to be a
warlord. Powers wanted to be God.

If you’re looking for a children’s book about friendship, feelings, and
compassion, Peanut Butter & Donner: A Curious Chorus will sing its way

About the Author

Erin Rosenblum is a licensed therapist and children’s book author

Her debut picture book, Peanut Butter & Donner: A Curious Chorus, is the

rhyming children’s books inspired by a real-life animal friendship and
the desire to give language to big feelings in little bodies. Through lyrical
rhyme and memorable animal characters, Erin’s stories help children
navigate emotions in developmentally appropriate ways.

Inspired by her own rescued rabbit and parakeet, A Curious Chorus tells the

and learning to feel safe, seen, and understood. Her stories are designed to
open conversations, encourage empathy, and help children recognize that all
feelings are good even when they feel too big and too hard to handle.

When she is not writing or working in her private practice, Erin enjoys
spending time with family and friends, surrounded by the beloved animals who
inspired her stories including the real Peanut Butter and Donner. She believes
in finding magic in everyday moments and hopes her books leave children with a
better understanding of the big feelings that are part of our everyday lives.

#blogtour The Healing Heart by Randa Knight

The Healing Heart is a second-chance, forced-proximity romance where he falls first and
hardest, complete with a hilarious girl squad who keep it real, plenty of witty
banter, and a protective, “touch-her-and-die” Alpha hero fighting to
break his family’s curse—one swoon-worthy, heated night at a time.

The Healing Heart

Boys of Bragg Book 5

by Randa Knight

Genre: Military Romance

One tragedy changed everything.

Lizzy
One reckless night. One unforgettable taste of him.
The moment I broke my rules and gave in, I knew I was playing with fire. His
smoldering cerulean eyes and the way he whispered my name? Irresistible. He
didn’t want forever—but I needed more.
Now, he’s back, acting like the boyfriend dreams are made of. Sweet. Attentive.
Protective. Maybe even ready to love me the way I crave.
But how do I trust a man who’s made walking away into an art form?
Is a second chance worth the burn?

Josh
I left her. Not because I didn’t want her—but because I wanted her too much.
Marriage. Kids. The white picket fantasy. I told myself I couldn’t be that man…
because I’m my father’s son. And he broke my mother in ways I can never forget.
So I let Lizzy go.
But fate had other plans. Now I’m here, ready to fight for her, to protect
what’s mine—with teeth, fists, and fury if I have to.
She says she doesn’t trust me.
But I’ll prove it—one kiss, one promise, one heated night at a time.

“Hey, did
you have a good run?” Lizzy asks, looking me up and down like I’m a dessert she
can’t wait to eat. I love that she can’t hide how much she still wants me.

Maybe this
will be easier than I thought. “It was… therapeutic.” She nods, knowing running
is how I clear my head. “I’m going to shower.” Smooth, dumbass. You have
better game than this.

But Lizzy
has always made me into a babbling idiot stumbling over my words. My therapist
told me it’s because I actually give a shit about Lizzy and care what she
thinks. Halfway down the hallway, I stop, remembering I decided to change
things with Lizzy, beginning with a date. “Do you have plans tonight?”

She glares
at me and snarks, “What, do you have a hot date and want the apartment to
yourself?”

I shouldn’t
mess with her like this, but she’s asking for it by thinking I would look at,
let alone be with, anyone but her. “Weeellll, I’m not sure yet. It depends on
her.”

“Such a
fucking gentleman. I can stay with Dee. Actually, I probably should’ve moved
out by now. I’ll do that while you’re on your hot date.” Anger oozes from her
even though she’s trying to hide it, but I know her too well. After slapping
her laptop closed, she heads to the guestroom, but I stop her when she’s within
arm’s reach.

Fuck. I’m
messing this up already.

“I didn’t
ask if you had plans, so you’d leave. The last thing I want is for you to leave
tonight… or any night. I was hoping you would be my hot date.” I brush
my palm against her cheek and see her take a deep breath. I haven’t lost her
yet. I whisper, “I’m going to shower and get ready for this smokin’ hot blonde
who makes my heart race.”

“Makes your
heart race? Too bad it’s not enough for you to make a long-term commitment to
her.”

Wrapping my
arms around her, I breathe in her light scent and say in a gravelly voice, “If
I did, she’s the only one I would ever think about making any type of
commitment to.”

“If. I can’t
live in a world of ifs. I need—”

I interrupt
her with my lips. At first, her lips are stiff, but in mere seconds, she melts
into me. Thank God.

My body
relaxes into the kiss. Her lips soften and mold to mine, followed by her arms
gripping the bottom of my shirt, showing me she’s trying not to get lost in
this kiss—lost in us. She changes the kiss from soft and languid to desperate
and demanding as she slips her hand under my shirt, skimming her fingertips
along my abs.

I break the
kiss only so I can feast on her beautiful neck. I need to taste her—remind
myself of everything about her. Those subtle sighs. Quiet moans. How she melts
in my arms.

I should
stop us. Change our old patterns of falling into sex. But damn, I can’t think
straight when she touches me. I always cave to her.

After Lizzy
pushes my shirt up, I whip it off and she immediately runs her hands up my
chest, causing my dick to become a steel rod. My lips continue to attack her
neck and suck on that little spot right below her earlobe. Working my way down
to her cleavage, pulling her tank top down, she gives me access to her
beautiful tits that I need to cherish and ravish. I wrap my mouth around her
nipple to suck, kiss, and flick her desire from her.

“I hate
you,” she moans, directing my head back to her mouth.

“I can tell
you hate me so damn much.”

“I hate how
sexy you look after a five-mile run.”

“Try
thirteen miles today since I couldn’t get this gorgeous woman off my mind.” I
groan and swirl my tongue around her nipple, causing her to give me a long
moan.

Her fingers
dig into my hair, further turning me on. I love it when she marks me with her
nails, even when I used to get counseled and lectured for allowing my girl to
damage government property. Instead of telling her to stop or at least mark me
where my uniform covers, I rewarded her with more orgasms. I pray she does the
same tonight.

Switching to
the other side with the same fervor, I wrap her legs around my waist and grind
myself to her warmth. I can feel how turned on she is through her tiny athletic
shorts.

“I hate how
sweet you are to Cristian.”

“Let’s not
talk about our godson right now.” That kid has a knack for killing a boner.
He’s been a cockblock a few times when we were babysitting him. My dick is
trained for Cristian being a no-fly zone until he goes to sleep.

“We
shouldn’t—”

I interrupt
her with my lips, knowing she’s trying to talk herself out of being with me in
any capacity. If we stop, she won’t go to dinner with me either. She’ll shut me
out. I can’t do that again. I need this woman with every fiber of my being.

As I’m about
to roll my hip into hers, she pushes my shorts down, releasing my hard cock.
Her lust-filled eyes tell me what she wants from me, and no way am I going to
deny her anything. I have her shorts off in a matter of seconds. I almost shoot
my load when she wraps her hands around my dick, strokes me a few times, and
rubs me along her wetness. Fucking teasing me. I smirk, pulling her right
nipple into my mouth and doing a combination of flicking and sucking, which I
know drives her wild.

“I hate that
you know me so well.”

I thicken my
accent, knowing how much it turns her on. “Back at ya, darlin’.”

She
continues rubbing my dick up and down her slit, but when she moves me down, I
slip into her completely, causing her nails to dig into my shoulders and down
my arms. I didn’t realize her hands moved until I felt them. Yeah, that’s
going to leave a mark.

“I
hate—right there, sexy… God, yes—how you fuck me.”

“Obviously,”
I say, kissing her neck. I can feel her tightening around me, and I pray I can
hold out until she finishes. Jesus, she’s fucking heaven.

“I hate—”

“I hate how
much you’re talking.”

“Then shut
me up.” She flashes me a challenging look.

When Prophecy Replaces Accountability

Religion / Christian Living / Spiritual Growth

Date Published: June 30, 2026

Publisher: Lucid Books Publishing

What happens when someone claims to speak for God—but refuses to
answer to anyone?

In today’s platform-driven culture, prophetic voices can gain influence
almost overnight. But when charisma grows faster than character and authority
operates without accountability, the Church becomes vulnerable to confusion,
manipulation, and spiritual harm.

In The Self-Chosen One: When Prophecy Replaces Accountability, pastor Kevin P.
Horath addresses this growing challenge. Writing from the perspective of a
pastor who deeply values the work of the Holy Spirit, Horath does not reject
prophecy. Instead, he calls the Church to restore it to its proper place
within humility, character, and biblical oversight.

In this book you will discover:

• How to recognize genuine prophetic ministry versus self-appointed
authority
• Why spiritual gifts must function within biblical
accountability and church structure
• How social media and platform
culture have reshaped spiritual influence
• The dangers of spiritual
narcissism and unchecked charisma
• Practical ways pastors and
leaders can protect congregations
• How to test prophetic claims
without rejecting the Spirit

The Self-Chosen One is a warning and an invitation—helping the Church
recover a healthy balance between Spirit and Scripture, passion and
discernment.

About the Author

Kevin P. Horath is the Lead Pastor of Hillside Bethel Ministries in Decatur,
Illinois, where he also oversees Hillside Bethel Christian School. After
nearly thirty years as a healthcare human resources executive, he stepped into
full-time ministry with a passion for helping people apply biblical truth to
everyday life. Kevin writes and teaches about healthy church leadership,
spiritual discernment, and the practical work of building strong Christian
communities. He and his wife, Kathy, live in Decatur and enjoy time together
sailing on Lake Decatur and serving their local church and community. The
Self-Chosen One reflects his heart for protecting the Church while preserving
genuine spiritual vitality.
