Review/ My thoughts

I found this self help book on marketing and how to publish your first book to be insightful. As a new writer myself I try to take in as much new information about publishing and marketing as I can.

In this book the author shares the two ways to publish traditionally or self published. The author goes over all details of both including pros and cons. Actually not really cons it’s more so about what bests fits you on a personal level. Both paths to publishing are great in my opinion and I’ve been weighing my options on both. I think I have finally chosen the path I want to take with my first book. But reading this gave me more information on the step by step and looking into the work (on both paths of publishing) it takes to get your work out there to other readers.

Reading this also gave me more thoughts on if I just want to publish for people who are close and dear to me or if I want to publish for every reader who is interested in my work and genre.

I learned a lot from this self help book, it’s definitely a book to keep by and take notes on while I’m getting my work started with publishing.

I recommend this to all writers who are thinking about publishing and don’t know where to start and what to know about the work it takes in both traditionally and self published paths.

Review/ My thoughts

What She Knew is a fast paced thriller about a man, husband and father named Tom. His sister Emma just recently passed away from a house fire. Tom’s wife Amy has been acting strange lately having a strange man visit and hunt her down, taking phone calls at weird times. Being very secretive.

In the end Tom is on a mission to find out why Amy is behaving the way she is and it has a lot to do with his sister’s death.

Overall this was a good story there were moments where I felt I knew where the story was going but it didn’t take away from the story. I enjoyed how fast paced it was. This being the first story I read by this author I think I may check out other books by him.

Review/ thoughts:

Phoebe’s Diary is about a teenage girl who is really into theater and she is trying to juggle life with her friends yet still trying to have a successful dating life.

Here are my 5 reasons as to why you should read Phoebe’s Diary

1. This story follows how a lot of teen girls in high school think. Overthinking things, boy crazy, wondering what her friends may or may not think of her choices.

2. As the reader you can see how Phoebe trys to challenge herself especially when it comes to dating. Like she really wants to date and have a boyfriend but sometimes she isn’t sure how she should approach the situation.

3. The reader can also see some of Phoebe’s insecurities and yet she doesn’t allow them to get in her way.

4. This story has nice illustrations that go along with the book

5. Inside the story the reader will find some cool playlists I feel some people may enjoy.

Phoebe Wahl is a children’s book author and illustrator. Her first children’s book Sonya’s Chickens (Tundra Books) was the recipient of the Ezra Jack Keats Book Award for New Illustrator, and was listed by School Library Journal, Kirkus and HuffPost Books as being one of the Best Children’s Books of 2015. Review

First off this was my first time reading anything by this author and I’m glad I Will Follow You was my first introduction to the author’s writing. This story is a thriller, it’s about finding out the real truth to what happened when a woman named Rebecca was pushed off a balcony from a 15th floor hotel room. She was with a man who is very popular and rich named Elliot Gardner. All things are pointing at Elliot as to say he was the one who pushed her. He was able to clear his name at the trial.

But now his former girlfriend Poppy knows the real Elliot and won’t stop until she uncovers the truth about what happened to Rebecca and why she was murdered.

This story goes back and forth to present time and past time when Poppy was dating Elliot. During both timelines you are able to see the changes of Elliot has become and even how intense Poppy is to make sure he is behind bars.

I really enjoyed how intense this story was. I really enjoyed the author’s writing style and how real the scenes were. There were times when I was really guessing who the real murderer was and going back and forth in forth in my mind as I was reading.

This story kept me guessing the whole way through which I enjoyed, also it was fast paced.

I’m glad I had the chance to read I will Follow you I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a mystery and something fast paced.

Review

Instead of a typical review I’ll be sharing my thoughts about the book using gifs, then sharing a brief section on my final opinion of the story.

Last thoughts

I really enjoy this story. It talked a lot about family and finding your way back home especially when things get hard. This is a sweet romance that talks about a women’s struggle with a man who didn’t actually love her or support her to this same woman finding love and support from family and man that holds her up high, even when you didn’t think she needed to be on top. I enjoyed this the audio book was nice to listen to as well.

Review

This is a coming of age graphic novel about a 7th grader named Olivia going by the name Viv because there are so many other Olivia’s at her school and she is on a mission to be bold and different and live in her truth. On picture day at school her mom makes Viv were an old cardigan that Viv doesn’t like at all. Viv wants to stand out so badly so while at school she ends up cutting her braid off to send a message that she is ready to not be the same person any morere.

Viv follows a popular influencer named Quinn Sparks, Quinn seems to be someone Viv looks up to and gets a lot of advice from. Quinn tends to talk about being your true self and doing what makes you happy regardless of how others think.

Viv wants the recognition from some kids at school regarding her new change. Meanwhile her friends Milo and Al just want her to stay on task regarding the costumes in skate sequence that they’re doing for school.

I believe young kids and middle schoolers who read this will learn that trying to be too different comes at price and also following internet fame shouldn’t be as important as really loving who you are.

I enjoyed the illustrations and how colorful they were. This graphic novel has a good message for kids which is something I really appreciate.

About author

Sarah cares deeply about encouraging young readers to discover and expand their sense of creative
confidence. She studied Storytelling and Sequential Imagery at Hampshire College and she’s since
worked as an educator at the Children’s Creativity Museum in San Francisco, a volunteer with 826
Valencia, and as Creative Director at Lumosity, where she led a team of artists working with
scientists and game designers to transform problem-solving and memory skills into brain-training
