A Girl Named Rainbow By Krystaelynne Sanders Diggs| #bookreview #netgalley #agirlnamedtainbow

My thoughts/ review:

This is a really cute uplifting children’s book about a little girl named Rainbow and how she one day doesn’t like her name because she keeps getting teased at school. Her mom helps her change her mind about her name and helps her to love the name she was given. This book was done really well I loved illustrations and how colorful and bright they were. I believe this book can help young children with self esteem issues as well as self love. I think young children need more books like this, especially when the media is telling young kids to be and act a certain way instead of learning to love themselves.

Soft Magic by Upile Chisala | #bookreview

My Thoughts/ Review:

This was a beautiful book of poetry. All about what it’s like being a black woman and the things we do on the daily. We love, give, help, educate but black women still aren’t recognized like they should be.

The author also talks about self love and self care. Something on the journey of doing for myself. She also mentioned about not putting a man before yourself. Something I often see way more than I should. She says to love him from a distance but still not lose yourself in the process. We a woman not just black women can get caught up in relationship that it tends to control everything in our life.

The author talked about putting yourself in first; love yourself. I strongly believe more women need to hear this. We do a lot with out children, work, school, family, ect and it’s time we take time for ourselves.

This was a nice fast paced poetry book and I enjoyed the author’s writing.

My Thoughts/Review:

This is a Read me romance podcast novella. I really enjoyed reading this story, this is the story of Nikki and Dean. Nikki is just trying to start brand new with a new job in a new town. She walks into a tattoo shop to get a tattoo for saying goodbye to her old life and old way of being.

She meets Dean her tattoo artist and they immediately have an attraction. They end up meeting again when Dean start classes at college not knowing Nikki is his professor.

This was a fun teacher -student story that actually seemed realistic. It was fun to know more of a background of Nikki as well as Dean on their issues outside of them wanting to be together.

I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Rules of The Friend-Zone By Kat Baxter | #BookReview

My Thoughts/ Review:

This is a “Read Me Romance” podcast book that I chose randomly. I told myself I wanted to start reading the books from the podcast this year, so I just chose this to start with.
This Piper and Dylan’s story. Piper and Dylan are best friends have been since the early years of college. They both love each other but don’t want to cross that line and potentially ruin their friendship.
I enjoyed the ending to this story it was nice HEA and overall a sweet story. I like that the story mentioned a snowstorm because at the time of me reading this the north east in the US is experiencing snow and cold weather so I feel this story fit right in.
In the end I rate this a 4.5⭐ it was nice and cute and with a good ending.

#BookReview | Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon

My Thoughts/ Review:

This was my first sci-fi romance and I have to say I actually enjoyed it. I put off reading this because I felt I wouldn’t like it, mainly because it’s so hyped up right now and I can see why.

This is about a woman named Georgie who is basically kidnapped on a spaceship with other woman she doesn’t know. She doesn’t know how she got there or where she is going all she know is she is surrounded by little green men that has full control over her and the other girls.

In the book Georgie is basically taken by a big blue guy with horns and tail ..his name is Vektal and he is obsessed with Georgie. He wants to make sure she and protected and wants to make sure while she is living on this ice planet that she is happy.

I liked how imaginative the story was and just how different it was too. The author made it easy to under the world and words to describe other elements of the world. I can definitely see myself reading more into this series.

#BookReview | Indigo by Beverly Jenkins

My review/ thoughts:

Instead of giving a full review of this story I’ll share my personal thoughts and how I felt. Indigo by Beverly Jenkins is my first historical romance novel that I read. I always wanted to read historical romances but had no idea where to start. I knew for a fact that I wanted to read some written by a black author to start me off. Indigo sets the tone of what real romance is especially during a dangerous time like the 1800s where blacks were bought and sold into slavery and had very little power.

I strongly believe Beverly Jenkins captured the historical part very well and made it seem very believable.Β
Hester and Galen are the perfect couple. Hester I felt was a strong woman and did for herself she wasn’t use to a man doing for her. Which for me I’m glad the author didn’t write Hester as a weak woman that needed a man for everything. And Galen he is a alpha male he knows what he wants and goes after it. He knew he wanted Hester and wouldn’t stop until he had Hester as his wife.

The whole story is swoon worthy. Every page when Hester and Galen were together I was smiling and I felt happy for them. They have gone through so much together and in the end still managed to be together and build their family, even during the tough times that was slavery.

I actually buddy read this with my good read and now because of her I want to read more of Beverly Jenkins books. I can now say I like reading historical romance and I can see why a lot people of enjoy reading them. Reading Indigo has made me want to read other historical romances novels from other authors as well.Β

Overall this was a great story 5⭐ I can definitely see myself re reading this again.
