Readers and writers… “How have you been feeling lately?”  πŸ’œ

So I was thinking every so often I’ll do a post asking how everyone is feeling and doing as of late. I know there is so much going on in the world at the current moment that it’s mentally draining.

As for me as someone who does suffer with mental illness, honestly I’m doing okay…just okay. I haven’t done any content on my other socials in a very long time. I think maybe I’m overwhelmed so I’m trying to find balance to where I don’t feel so stressed by everything. But yeah, I’m doing okay. Which is about fair for right now.

So if you can when you see this post please share how you’re doing ❀️

Thank youΒ

I’ll have new content for the site soon 😊

9 Habits to Help Maintain Sobriety in Recovery

Recovery from addiction is a life-long journey that requires patience, dedication, and effort. One of the ways you can ensure long-term sobriety is by incorporating healthy habits into your daily routine. These habits will help you stay focused, motivated, and positive throughout your recovery journey. Here are seven habits that you can incorporate into your daily life to help you maintain your sobriety, presented below by OrganicLittleUnit.

Patience and Compassion with Yourself
During the recovery journey, it is important to be patient and kind to yourself. It is crucial to understand that change doesn’t happen overnight, and there will be tough days along with good days. If you make a mistake, try to avoid dwelling on the negativity but work towards learning from your mistakes and moving forward with a positive attitude. By being compassionate toward yourself, you can maintain a healthy mindset and stay on track toward your recovery goals.

Set a Healthy Morning Routine for Success
Starting your day off on the right foot can set the tone for the rest of your day. Creating a healthy morning routine is an excellent way to incorporate healthy habits into your daily life. Consider starting with a morning meditation, stretching, or yoga practice. You can also try journaling or setting daily intentions to help you stay focused and positive.
Why Therapy is Essential in Recovery
Therapy is an essential tool for anyone in recovery. A therapist can help you work through any underlying issues that may have contributed to your addiction, as well as provide you with coping strategies for dealing with triggers and cravings.

Additionally, therapy can provide you with a safe space to talk about your feelings and emotions, which can be incredibly helpful during the recovery process.
Walk More
Staying active and incorporating more walking into your daily routine can play a significant role in supporting your sobriety. Engaging in regular physical activity like walking helps reduce stress, improve mental health, and boost overall well-being, all of which are crucial for maintaining sobriety. To enhance your walking experience, consider using a walk score map to identify the best pedestrian-friendly areas nearby. These maps can help you find safe, accessible routes that make your walks more enjoyable and sustainable as a part of your lifestyle.
Community Connection: Support Group Meetings
Attending support group meetings is another crucial part of the recovery process. Support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA), can provide you with a sense of community and support. Additionally, they offer a space to share your experiences, get advice, and build relationships with others who are also in recovery.

Building a Strong Support Network
Having a strong support network is essential for maintaining sobriety. This network can include friends, family members, therapists, and support group members. It’s important to surround yourself with people who are positive, supportive, and understanding. Additionally, having a sponsor or mentor in your support network can be particularly helpful, as they can provide you with guidance and accountability.
Mind Your Caffeine Consumption
Being mindful of your caffeine intake is especially important in sobriety, as it’s easy, particularly in early recovery, to find yourself consuming too much coffee. While reaching for an extra cup of coffee might seem harmless, excess caffeine can actually exacerbate feelings of stress and anxiety, which could complicate your recovery journey.

To help manage your caffeine consumption, consider using free online resources to look up the caffeine content in your favorite beverages. These tools can be invaluable in helping you make informed decisions about how much caffeine you’re ingesting, allowing you to maintain a healthier balance and support your overall well-being during sobriety.
Practicing Mindfulness in Recovery
Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the current moment. This practice can be incredibly helpful for those in recovery, as it allows you to be fully aware of your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Additionally, mindfulness can help you manage stress and anxiety, which are common triggers for relapse. Consider incorporating mindfulness practices such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga into your daily routine.

Setting Achievable Goals in Sobriety
Setting achievable goals is an excellent way to stay motivated and focused during the recovery process. However, it’s important to set realistic goals that you can accomplish. For example, instead of setting a goal to run a marathon next month, consider setting a goal to run a 5k in six months. Achieving smaller goals along the way can provide you with a sense of accomplishment and momentum.

Maintaining sobriety is a lifelong journey that requires dedication and effort. By incorporating healthy habits into your daily routine, you can help ensure long-term sobriety. Remember to be patient and compassionate with yourself, create a healthy morning routine, attend therapy and support group meetings, build a strong support network, practice mindfulness, and set achievable goals. With these habits in place, you can achieve success in your recovery journey.
