Hey blogger friends and readers! ๐๐ฝ So I’ve been thinking for a while that I really wanted to show case my writing with the public. As you may know I’m currently writing my first fiction novel. But I always have doubts about how the public may view my work. I’m slowly learning that once the book is published all reviews are just opinions and shouldn’t be made to tear down my confidence in continuing to write. So I thought that I’ll use my website to show case some of my practice writing, whether it be short fiction, poems, and or personal essays. I want to gain high confidence in all the feedback I receive. I believe there is no such thing as a bad review. Reviews are just personal opinions. But I would like to know about any areas I need to work more on as I share my writing here in this space. I feel this is my website and it’s a safe space so sharing my work here first should be okay and a big jump start into my novel writing.
Please let me know if you’ll like to see this on my blog going forward. I’ll still be promoting other indie authors as well as sharing my own book reviews here.
I’ve decided that I’m going to participate in Nanowrimo this year. So I’ll be using all of October to prep for that. I did a video discussing how I plan to use October to prepare for nano. Video below ๐
It is easier than ever to publish a book, but many authors find out too late about the actual work-the book marketing-that needs to be done to achieve sizable book sales. Review/ My thoughts
I found this self help book on marketing and how to publish your first book to be insightful. As a new writer myself I try to take in as much new information about publishing and marketing as I can.
In this book the author shares the two ways to publish traditionally or self published. The author goes over all details of both including pros and cons. Actually not really cons it’s more so about what bests fits you on a personal level. Both paths to publishing are great in my opinion and I’ve been weighing my options on both. I think I have finally chosen the path I want to take with my first book. But reading this gave me more information on the step by step and looking into the work (on both paths of publishing) it takes to get your work out there to other readers.
Reading this also gave me more thoughts on if I just want to publish for people who are close and dear to me or if I want to publish for every reader who is interested in my work and genre.
I learned a lot from this self help book, it’s definitely a book to keep by and take notes on while I’m getting my work started with publishing.
I recommend this to all writers who are thinking about publishing and don’t know where to start and what to know about the work it takes in both traditionally and self published paths.

Genre: Young Adult Contemporary Romance Publishing Date: June 20, 2023
Synopsis: Two star-crossed teenagers fall in love during the 2019 Hong Kong protests in this searing contemporary debut about coming of age in a time of change. Sixteen-year-old Phoenix knows her parents have invested thousands of dollars to help her leave Hong Kong and get an elite Ivy League education. They think America means big status, big dreams, and big bank accounts. But Phoenix doesnโt want big; she just wants home. The trouble is, she doesnโt know where that isโฆ until the Hong Kong protest movement unfolds, and she learns the city sheโs come to love is in danger of disappearing. Seventeen-year-old Kai sees himself as an artist, not a filial son, and certainly not a cop. But when his mother dies, heโs forced to leave Shanghai to reunite with his estranged father, a respected police officer, whoโs already enrolled him in the Hong Kong police academy. Kai wants to hate his job, but instead, he finds himself craving his fatherโs approval. And when he accidentally swaps phones with Phoenix and discovers sheโs part of a protest network, he finds a way to earn it: by infiltrating the group and reporting their plans back to the police. As Kai and Phoenix join the struggle for the future of Hong Kong, a spark forms between them, pulling them together even as their two worlds try to force them apart. But when their relationship is built on secrets and deception, will they still love the person left behind when the lies fall away? Content Warning: grief over death of a parent, police brutality, political unrest
