I remember reading The Bailey School Kids series when I was in grade school and I enjoyed all of them. I would normally buy them at my school book fair, I wanted to collect them all. I enjoyed reading this it was fast paced then I remembered. But it brought me back to when I little reading these chapter books. These are really fun and cute reads.

Synopsis:
What do you do if you’re in trouble?
When Michelle runs away from her drug-addicted mother, she has just enough money to make it to New York City, where she hopes to move in with a friend. But once she arrives at the bustling Port Authority, she is confronted with the terrifying truth: she is alone and out of options.
Then she meets Devon, a good-looking, well-dressed guy who emerges from the crowd armed with a kind smile, a place for her to stay, and eyes that seem to understand exactly how she feels.
But Devon is not what he seems to be, and soon Michelle finds herself engulfed in the world of child prostitution where he becomes her โDaddyโ and she his โLittle Peach.โ It is a world of impossible choices, where the line between love and abuse, captor and savior, is blurred beyond recognition.
This hauntingly vivid story illustrates the human spiritโs indomitable search for home, and one girlโs struggle to survive.
My review and thoughts:
This story is about a 14 year old girl named Michelle who didn’t have the best conditions at home. So she figures she can run off to see her friend in New York and have a better life. Michelle had no money when she got to New York and didn’t know where to go. She befriend a man named Devon. Devon promised her the world. He promised to take good care of her and give her anything she needed, as long as she followed the rules.
Michelle friends two other girls Kat and Baby. With no knowledge of how her life will change Michelle is thrown into prostitution in which she is selling her body to men every night. Devon and the other boys in the group has Michelle, Kat, and Baby hooked on drugs as well.
This story was so hard to read that I had to put the book down for a little while until I was ready to finish it. The story really does depict the dangerous situations these young girls are out into for these other men. As I was reading my heart was full hoping for the best for Michelle. The sad and unfortunate thing is this happens every single day. Young girls are recruited into a prostitution ring and it’s hard for them to get out, or make it out alive. I hear and see horrible stories like this being told all the time.
Honestly I feel this story was well written and informative. It also discussed a real topic that the media is not coving as often as they should. So many young girls go missing and are never to be returned because of this very problem. I enjoyed the writing and how realistic the events in this story were. I would recommend to anyone who wants more clarity on this topic.

Synopsis:
The first letter arrived the day my husband was buried. It was postmarked from the state penitentiary, and contained a single sentence:
Iโll wait forever if I have to.
It was signed by Dante, a man I didnโt know.
Out of simple curiosity, I wrote back to ask him what exactly he was waiting for. His reply?
You.
I told the mystery man he had the wrong girl. He said he didnโt. I said weโd never met, but he said I was wrong.
We went back and forth, exchanging letters every week that grew increasingly more intimate. Then one day, the letters stopped. When I found out why, it was already too late.
Dante was at my doorstep.
And nothing on earth could have prepared me for what happened next.

Review and my thoughts:
This dark romance story is about a woman named Kayla and she is trying to go on with life after her marriage ended. She is now living in her home that she once shared with her husband and all these weird things start to happen. Things that Kayla can’t make sense of. She starts getting mysterious letters post marked from prison and a guy she hired to work on home Aiden, she has started to fall for.
I would have to say I liked the paranormal aspect of the story and wanted a little more from it. But that’s where everything changed for me. Towards the end of the story it seemed so rushed and I honestly didn’t like how it ended. I was hoping for a better ending which is why I kept reading but the ending didn’t make much sense. Which is really disappointing.
I enjoyed the writing. As I pointed out the paranormal part of the story was actually fun to read and would had liked more from that. But overall this wasn’t my favorite just because how it all ended. Also I felt I was getting confused on some parts I had to go back in the book to re read a passage to fully understand what was happening towards the end.
It was very much interesting and different for what it was. Still not a favorite of mine. But I’ll still recommend it to others if they like a paranormal aspect to their dark romances.
