Write Out Loud: Finding the Time to Write #guestpost #blogtour @womenonwriting

Finding The Time to Write:

As a new author and writer I find that the hardest thing for myself is finding the time to write. It sounds easy to just take out my laptop or notebook and write but I always feel it better to have a comfortable space and not interruptions to make writing time easier for myself. I am a mom of a special needs child and I just put most of my “me time” during the day while he’s at school or evenings when he is sleep or evening during the weekend afternoons.

Finding the time to write is so important because I find when I’m not writing or at least thinking about my writing projects I can start to have self doubt and that something no new writer needs. So I learned doing writing sprints (I find some pre recorded videos on YouTube that I can write along with or I can set my own timer)

I also made it a mission to write down on my phone which I find to be very easy, especially when I’m out and I have a new idea that I just can’t wait to put together. I have usye things like Word, Google docs, and Microsoft notes to do my brainstorming and note taking. I like using these programs because my work gets synced to my computer and I won’t worry about losing anything (no writer wants to write for hours and lose their work)

So my phone, when I’m home I have a notebook and my computer all near by for when I’m feeling creative. Because I feel my stories are forever changing I’m always adding and taking away from them all the time. I remember a few times I woke up in the middle of the night just to take notes on my dream that I thought I could use in my story so I wouldn’t forget it later.

Overall although finding time is important I also find not adding pressure on yourself because that takes away the fun and enjoyment from writing. I have to tell myself this is my life long career and I want to have fun with what I’m doing, no pressure no stress. Make writing fun maybe by playing some music, taking a 5-10 minute break in-between writing sprints, and also rewarding yourself like with coffee, or candy or just a drive to the mall later, it be something simple like a hot bath even. Make writing time fun and these tips I have to always remind myself with because it’s very easy to lose track.

Things to consider:

• music

• writing sprints

• group writing session (there are a lot of groups online people can sign up for free, or ask around your local library)

•reward yourself

• be kind to yourself

• no pressure, no stress remember to enjoy yourself

The Gem Keepers Saga Book 1

  Science Fiction

  Date Published: 06-01-2023

  Publisher: Gem Keeper Creations

photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

I’ve been called Hero, Protector, even an Angel. But to act in this

manner, there must be an act of brutal savagery. Sorrow, terror, pain is the

Hero’s experience. To be a Hero means to live in a nightmare.

My name is Emma, and this is my life now. I remember tales about heroes as

a kid; full of excitement and fantasy endings. But those are just stories.

When I got my powers they seemed exciting and fun; but then reality hit.

Cosmic war, invading alien fleets, and the Stone Keepers; these are my

reality. Those, and other atrocities caused by our own species, overshadow

the hero’s path. Atrocities I’m compelled to act upon, which

leave everlasting scars – others can’t see. Myself, my partner, and my

new friends, are the latest chosen as Gem Keepers. All of the Gem Keepers

before us have fallen to a powerful evil. Now, Earth is thrust into a

timeless war, against an unimaginable enemy. We must somehow unite our

world, or it will all be lost. The ones I love, those who bring me a sense

of happiness, will perish. I refuse to let this happen.

So call me a Hero, call me whatever you want. Just understand this was an

Imposed Path, and it’s just the beginning.

The Imposed Path is the first book in the Gem Keepers Saga. It follows Emma

through her eyes, as she and her new friends are forced into a cosmic war.

    Powerful enemies, invading alien fleets, and the dark side of human nature;

is what she must face. Emma’s new found love, and friendships; will be her

strongest tools in overcoming these challenges. This series will dive into

the dark aftermath of Emma’s many experiences – the physical and

emotional impact of being a hero. Pain, sorrow, and terror fill this

journey; will love and friendship be enough. How much can a hero endure?

Will she be able to keep her promise to the one she loves, and Never Let

    Go.

  About the Author

Timothy M. David is a recently retired 24 year veteran. He is an avid

Sci-Fi and Comic Book fan, but enjoys horror fantasy and crime stories as

well. As a hobby he would write short stories, and came up with the idea for

the Gem Keepers Saga during his last overseas assignment. He enjoyed the

characters and story so much, he started writing his first novel. What was

expected to be a single novel, has now become an estimated seven part

series. He has many other stories he would like to convert to novels, and

make his author dream come true. He hopes people will enjoy his stories, and

    become fans of his work.

The Joe Mack Adventures Volume 1

by Gail Z. Martin & Larry N. Martin

Genre: Urban Fantasy, Roaring 20’s Monster Hunter

When you ask a god for favors, be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.

From the bloody steel mill strikes of Pennsylvania rose a true man of steel, a steelworker transformed into something more by the power of the old gods. Josef Magarac was a brave man, a strong man, a hard-working immigrant who only wanted a better life for his family. Then he was murdered, and an ancient Slavic god brought him back to life, gave him new abilities, and a mission to protect those who can’t protect themselves.

Now he’s Joe Mack, and together with his allies, Secret Service agent Jack West and heiress Sarah Grace McAllen Harringworth, he handles the hard cases the regular feds won’t touch like magic-wielding mobsters, Lovecraftian monsters, and secret supernatural societies.

The Joe Mack Adventures: Volume One is a non-stop thrill ride full of paranormal action, found family, dark magic, and loyal friends.

This is a collection of four books in the Joe Mack Shadow Council Files by award-winning author team Gail Z. & Larry N. Martin, authors of the Spells, Salt, & Steel and the Wasteland Marshals series. The Shadow Council Case Files are historical fantasy novellas set in the world of Quincy Harker, Demon Hunter, that tell the true stories behind the tall tales surrounding some of the world’s most famous (and infamous) folk heroes.

This collection includes Cauldron, Black Sun, Chicagoland, and Spellbound.

The Light Keeper

by Christina Wallace

Genre: Epic YA Fantasy

Wishes aren’t all they’re cracked up to be… especially when you have to capture the Fairies who grant them to you.

Er… make that faeries… and not the normal, hiding-in-plain-sight magical kind.

When a misadventure cleaning out the attic leads Isaac to release a faerie trapped in a glass ball of light, he believes he’s struck gold–in the form of wishes. All he has to do is mention the name that was engraved on the ball, and the indebted faerie would grant him any three wishes he wanted.

The best part of all was knowing that there was an entire chest of captured faeries waiting to be freed…

But when strange things start to happen around town, Isaac begins to wonder if the increasingly unfortunate events are his doing.

Only his mysterious neighbor, Yara, knows the truth about his lineage as a Light Keeper.

Can Yara’s strength and wisdom guide Isaac into his new role?

Can Isaac make things right again?

Or will his dream-come-true turn into his worst nightmare?

Christina Wallace has been many things. A student, an analyst, a wife, a mother, a gamer, and a lifelong writer. For almost as long as she can remember she’s dreamed of people and places that only existed in her mind, and sharing her stories is a dream come true.

Christina writes books not only for middle-grade audiences, but for young and new adults as well. Stories should be an escape. Christina likes to write about people who become their own heroes and take fate into their own hands. Many of her works contain fantastical elements and also a bit of love, but strong friendships are the common thread.

The Light Keeper is Christina’s debut series with more books soon to come. She is thrilled to begin this adventure of her very own as an author.
